Early Life and Education

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I am the grandson of Italian and Spanish migrants. Growing up in different cities across Argentina, I attended private colleges that gave me a very strong educational and cultural foundation. During my final two years of high school, I fell in love with journalism, writing, and the English language. Later, I moved to the city of Rosario and spent two years at a technical college, successfully mastering both cabinetmaking and electrical trades. I studied English as a second language from a young age, eventually completing Advanced English studies at the ARICANA college in Rosario between 1985 and 1986.
These diverse studies helped me develop a unique, multi-skilled skill set.

Starting My Career

My career began at age 18 as an electrician's assistant on construction sites. Over time, I earned my official full license as a Class 'A' Electrical Contractor (up to 15 Kv). I then began working for several building companies, combining my electrical knowledge with interior design carpentry.

From 1977 to 1981, when I was in my early twenties, I had the privilege of working in the Technical Services division of the National Gas Company (then called Gas del Estado, now Litoral Gas). This office was the backbone of the city's gas network, which connected to the entire country. Working alongside engineers and safety specialists, I received incredible training. Instead of focusing on just one area, I gained hands-on experience in many fields at once. I handled administrative tasks, technical drafting, plans inspection, and compliance standards. I also managed high-risk safety tasks like emergency radio communication, fire and sabotage control, and shutdown procedures. On top of the technical work, I managed relations with contractors, stakeholders, and upper management.

Running a Business

In 1982, I left the National Gas Company to co-found my own business, called DIDELCA, with a friend. We partnered with various architecture and interior design firms in Rosario. For nearly four years, I co-managed the business and acted as a foreperson for a crew of five people. We took on contract work for residential homes and multi-storey buildings. I managed complex electrical setups, including mains, switch-boxes, intercoms, lighting, and water pump systems for high-rise apartments. My role also covered general carpentry, joinery, and interior renovations.

A New Beginning in Australia

With a wealth of qualifications and practical experience, I decided to look for opportunities overseas for my family. Officials at the Australian Embassy in Argentina verified my skills and background, granting us a Skilled Permanent Resident Visa. I knew from friends that Australia was building its massive and prestigious New Parliament House in Canberra, and I wanted to be a part of it.

In September 1986, I migrated to Australia with my wife, Griselda Albertelli, and our son, Gustavo. We flew straight to the Australian Capital Territory, and shortly after landing, I proudly started working on the Parliament House project. Since that day, we have loved living in this wonderful country and being part of its community.

- Soon after our arrival to this new continent in 1986, I started working as a cabinetmaker / joiner at the
New Parliament House building in Canberra, the Australian Capital until its full completion in 1988.
- In 1988 our daughter Natalia was born in Canberra, ACT.
- In 1990, I became an Australian Citizen and we all now hold Australian Passports as well.
